We have close to a thousand Solaris buses in our fleet – this brand is definitely the dominating one in Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe. We hope that the next buses from Bolechowo will also satisfy our and the passengers’ requirements. – Jan Kuźmiński, CEO of Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe said.
Seeing Solaris buses in the streets of Warsaw makes us proud. The decision to lease sixty eco-friendly low floor buses demonstrates that Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe are consistently implementing measures to develop public transport in Warsaw to the benefit of the public first of all.” – Dariusz Michalak, Solaris Deputy CEO said.
Long-standing experience in financing various means of transport, including public transport, allows us yet again to accommodate needs voiced by the market. We do projects which can improve the quality of life of people in big cities. Now we have signed a new joint project with Solaris Bus & Coach – our long-term partners. We are confident that it will have a positive impact on the comfort of public buses in Warsaw. – Wojciech Rybak, Chairman of Millennium Leasing said.
Just as the eighty Solaris buses contracted by MZA in May this year, the new vehicles will be fitted i.a. with photovoltaic panels. Solar batteries installed on the roof will support the electrical system whenever the motor is off and also at terminus stops. This will help reduce fuel consumption, which is extremely important given the continuously growing demand for electricity, which results from increasingly sophisticated monitoring systems, climate control and LCD displays.
The Warsaw buses will be powered by DAF/PACCAR engines, which satisfy requirements of the latest Euro6 emissions standard as well as Voith Diwa 6 transmissions. Additional space has also been provided for prams and wheelchairs. Passengers will have the availability of traditional Solaris comfort features – climate control, LCD information displays and eco-friendly LED lighting. The safety of passengers and the driver will be assured by an advanced surveillance system, which comprises five exterior and five interior cameras to monitor the bus. An innovative feature will be alcolock– a device, which does not allow a drunk driver to start the engine. Additional features include Request Stop buttons reading STOP and printed with Braille characters.
Solaris buses have become part and parcel of Warsaw’s landscape. More than a thousand buses sporting the Solaris logo run on the capital city’s streets. It is worth mentioning that towards the end of September the manufacturer delivered ten electric buses. Moreover twenty Urbino 12 and sixty Urbino 18 buses will be delivered to Warsaw before the year’s end.
